Women's Health

We provide Ante-Natal Shared Care programs & Contraception Services including – Mirena & Implanon.

Shared maternity care means the care of the pregnancy is performed between the general practitioner and Flinders Medical Centre.

Some women like shared care because it means they can receive most of their maternity care from a GP who they are familiar with and who works close to their home or workplace. It also means that the same GP who has cared for you during the pregnancy can continue to care for you and your baby in the weeks and months after birth.

General Health Assessments

Mental Health Assessment

We offer comprehensive mental health assessment and care planning with referral (if required) to appropriate services for patients of all ages. This is a Medicare funded assessment.

Hearing Assessment

Early detection of hearing loss has been identified as an important factor in preventing social isolation and can lead to identification of other health concerns. Hearing loss can be linked to diabetes and smoking.

ECG

An ECG is a recording of your hearts electrical activity. We are able to record an ECG for patients who may be experiencing cardiac symptoms or have medical conditions whereby they may be at risk of developing heart disease.

INR Testing – Point of Care

We are able to test the clotting time of blood for patients who are on medication that changes the normal clotting time of blood.

Palliative Care

We provide end of life care for patients and liaise with palliative care services.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessments

A medicare funded preventative annual health assessment is available for all ATSI people. It is designed for early identification of poor health or risks to health and to provide effective and appropriate treatment or intervention

Chronic Disease Management

We provide nurse led management planning for patients with chronic diseases. This enables the patient to access allied health services and for the effective monitoring of their health concerns, including the management of respiratory conditions including asthma and COAD, diabetes management and cardiac conditions.

We provide the following immunisation services:

Childhood Immunisations
Preventative Immunisations
Travel Immunisations

Minor Surgery & Wound Care

Mill House Medical Centre has a dedicated treatment room staffed by a Practice Nurse.

Our doctors perform minor surgery including removal of lesions and skin cancers. We also provide wound management and suture removal.

Work Cover

We accept WorkCover clients and RTWSA appointments. Pre-employment medicals must be discussed with your GP for approval.

Healthy Heart Check

For anyone over 45 years of age (30 years + for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples).

The healthy heart check is designed to provide patients with an assessment of their risks of developing heart disease or having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years.

As part of the assessment, advice is provided on healthy living options. This assessment is fully funded by medicare. A blood test is required before the healthy heart check is performed.

Over 75 Health Assessment

Every patient over the age of 75 years is entitled to a medicare funded annual health assessment. A comprehensive assessment encompasses the physical, mental and social well being of patients.

We offer assistance with registering and applying for services through the myagedcare website for patients over the age of 65 years.
